7B Boardshop built a loyal following in northern Idaho over nearly 15 years, but its Lightspeed setup was dated, clunky for staff, and failed to capture the shop’s community vibe online. Attempts to drive ecommerce revenue fell flat, and customers experienced friction when shopping in person and on the website. The team realized they needed a streamlined, trustworthy tech stack to support growth, engage local riders, and handle peak winter demand.
Justus Hines, the shop’s marketing manager, led the decision to replatform to Shopify for its user-friendly interface and built-in omnichannel tools. Partnering with agency Matagora, the team migrated inventory, repurposed archival photos and 16mm footage to craft an authentic web aesthetic, and launched the new shop in December—just ahead of the busy season. Simultaneously they deployed Shopify POS, installing a fixed terminal at checkout plus a mobile iPad for flexible, line-busting transactions.
The switch paid off immediately. 7B Boardshop recorded its busiest winter ever, with a projected 15% year-over-year sales increase. More than half of those sales came from first-time customers, thanks to a polished online experience and rapid Shop Pay checkouts in store. Staff cut wait times with mobile POS, ensuring customers never left the line. The combined online-and-offline upgrade brought the store’s digital presence in line with its brick-and-mortar reputation.
