Supernote started with a custom-built site that handled basic sales, but the checkout was rigid. Customers couldn’t pay with alternative methods or access special offers. Key segments—like students—had no tailored experience, so many abandoned carts at the final step.
In March 2022, Supernote migrated to Shopify Plus and unlocked the exclusiveCheckout Customizationsfeature. With no code required, they redesigned the checkout flow, making it cleaner and more intuitive. They paired this with the Easy Student Discounts app to let students self-serve discounts without manual approvals.
On top of that, the team activatedShopify PaymentsandShop Pay, giving shoppers multiple ways to pay. Shop Pay installments let customers split orders into bi-weekly or monthly payments, lowering the barrier for higher-ticket purchases.
The new checkout drove immediate impact. Students became 10× more likely to purchase, while all shoppers enjoyed extra payment flexibility. In just three months:
Year-over-year, Supernote saw 200% sales growth—proof that targeted promos and seamless payments can drive dramatic lift in a matter of weeks.
By focusing on the finish line—the checkout page—Supernote turned a friction point into a conversion engine. The team plans to launch local UK and Japan services next, using the same playbook of custom promos and flexible payments.
