Since its foundation in 2006, AHP Dental & Medical steadily assembled a strong reputation for delivering quality supplies to over 3,000 dental practices across Australia. Despite an existing online storefront, 75% of orders were still placed by phone or email, and each transaction required manual entry into their MYOB system. Quarterly printing and mailing of a 72-page glossy catalog cost the business $15,000 each time, eating up $60,000 annually. With more than 8,000 SKUs to manage, the manual workload was becoming unsustainable.
Anthony Rubin, director and owner, recognized that scaling would demand a robust B2B ecommerce platform designed for complex operations. They needed seamless data flow between their web storefront and MYOB, plus automated payment processing and streamlined catalog management. Every new order, invoice and inventory update now syncs in real time, eradicating manual data entry and minimizing human error. What once consumed 15 hours a day in backend work is now fully automated, freeing staff to focus on customer service and strategic initiatives.
Switching to BigCommerce enabled AHP to retire printed catalogs, replacing them with a digital PDF version that updates instantly. By launching the revamped site with targeted email campaigns, SEO optimization and online-only promotions, the team encouraged widespread adoption. Every invoice for six months bore reminders about the new platform, driving rapid digital engagement.
Previously, around 500 credit card orders per month required customers to phone in and share card details, which staff then entered into terminals manually. Today, online payments flow directly through BigCommerce and automatically reconcile in MYOB. This frictionless process enhances security, saves time and delivers a smoother checkout experience.
The shift to BigCommerce and integrated ERP lifted online order share from 25% to 75%. Customer feedback on repeat ordering, invoice access and multi-user workflows has been overwhelmingly positive. Beyond dentistry, AHP now serves veterinarians, physiotherapists, pharmacies and hospitals. Efficiency gains have optimized back-office workflows without sacrificing service quality.
With 3,000 of Australia’s 11,000 dentists already onboard, AHP Dental & Medical plans to press further into untapped regions and adjacent markets.
