Petal & Pup began as a family operation in a Brisbane home, with founder Tiffany Scarff driving every decision. As orders grew, the team—her father handling executive duties, her mother on HR, her uncle managing production, and her husband running operations—realized their initial Shopify plan couldn’t keep pace. What started in a small study soon spilled into every corner of the house, until it was time for a platform built for serious scaling.
By 2016, Petal & Pup was bursting at the seams. The product line had to expand, new markets beckoned, and internal processes were under pressure. Tiffany was logging 16–18-hour days just to keep up. Manual tagging of products and juggling limited staff access meant bottlenecks at every turn. The family team needed a system that could support unlimited users, handle automation, and connect to global shipping channels without hiccups.
In late 2016, the switch toShopify Plusgave Petal & Pup the tools they needed. Unlimited staff accounts unlocked delegation across design, marketing, and logistics. WithShopify Flow, they automated tasks such as product tagging, order routing, and customer segmentation. Merchant success resources provided strategic guidance on new market launches. Almost immediately, the Scarffs felt relief as workflows sped up and the launch cadence strengthened.
Freed from tech headaches, Petal & Pup ramped up production: over 80 new arrivals every week, totaling 1,000 styles online at any given time. The operations team tracked inventory in real time, and automated alerts prevented stockouts. Tiffany and Julian focused on design and marketing, while Philip and Robyn optimized supply chains and customer support.
The first international push was into New Zealand, where demand surged. Next came the UAE, Canada, and the US, supported by localized marketing campaigns and multi-currency checkout. Within a year of upgrading, Petal & Pup had shipped to more than 80 countries, with global sales representing a fifth of total revenue. The Shopify Plus infrastructure handled currency conversion, local payment options, and automated tax calculations seamlessly.
Between spring/summer 2017 and spring/summer 2018, Petal & Pup reported a 400% year-over-year bump in sales. International orders climbed, and the brand now counts customers in over 80 markets. Production capacity increased tenfold, and weekly product drops keep shoppers returning. With robust analytics and dedicated support, the Scarff family projects another double-digit growth year in 2019.
