UroTuning had outgrown its Volusion store. As custom car enthusiasts, their buyers needed a way to select exact make, model, and year to ensure parts fit. But the existing setup couldn’t handle those specific requirements. Each change request took dev resources and slowed down the site. Justin Welty, the founder, knew there had to be a better way.
Shopify Plus offered API access and robust automation tools. Scripts let them adjust pricing and promotions on the fly. Flow enabled event-based workflows that replaced manual tasks. Justin made the move to cut down on repetitive updates and eliminate custom builds that broke at every core update.
Within weeks, the UroTuning team set up a new storefront. They imported products, configured fitment options, and tested the checkout flow. Shopify Flow was used to tag orders, alert teams when new fitment profiles were saved, and notify customers if inventory was low for their specific vehicle. By the end of the first month, most of the manual scripts had been retired.
The impact was immediate. Sales grew by 50%, conversion jumped 50%, and developers reclaimed more than 2,000 hours previously spent on updates. Employees could now focus on customer service and expanding the product line instead of firefighting broken code. Better-fit product suggestions led to fewer returns and higher satisfaction.
