In early experiments with crypto, Spencer Mecham spotted a gap where novices sought clear, concise steps to buy Bitcoin. Rather than building a site, he turned to YouTube. This choice cut through the slow churn of SEO approvals and delivered instant visibility. He launched a dedicated channel namedWealth Hacks, focusing on directly answering the hottest crypto questions. No fluff, just simple, to-the-point videos.
Four years ago Spencer noticed Bitcoin searches spiking on Google Trends. He recognized people were hungry for tutorials on setting up wallets, buying their first coins, and the purchases were finally possible thanks to services like Coinbase. This data-driven approach helped him zero in on what his target audience needed: immediate, practical guides that they could follow right away.
Spencer considered blogs and SEO but abandoned them due to the long wait for ranking authority. Instead, he opted for YouTube search where fresh videos on trending topics regularly surface. He understood early on that quick visibility in video search could outpace new websites. Within weeks he was getting views, feedback, and growing organically, all without waiting months for Google to take notice.
His formula: publish multiple videos each week focusing on specific, keyword-driven titles like "How to Make Money with Bitcoin" and "Set Up Your First Bitcoin Wallet Fast." He aimed to trigger YouTube’s algorithm by clustering related content. When viewers watched at least five of his videos in a row on crypto, YouTube started recommending them more often, creating a feedback loop that fueled exponential growth.
He tested thumbnails that displayed exact search phrases in bold text. If the keyword was "make money with Bitcoin," the thumbnail mirrored that phrasing. This alignment boosted click-through rates and reinforced relevancy signals to YouTube. With each tweak, his videos climbed the search results for those key terms.
Every video contained Spencer’s unique Coinbase affiliate link in the description. His call to action: “Click the link below to join Coinbase and get started.” Since Coinbase pays $10 per referral, the more engaged the viewer, the higher the conversion. Most searchers wanted a step-by-step tutorial so they were primed to click and deposit, generating instant commissions in Bitcoin.
By consistently applying this system, Spencer’s channel accrued hundreds of videos. Many blew up as crypto remained a hot topic, driving thousands of clicks and referrals. He ended up earning over $50,000 worth of Bitcoin from the Coinbase affiliate program in a single year, all from YouTube traffic.
Spencer Mecham’s journey shows how a lean, data-driven approach on YouTube can turn trending topics into reliable affiliate income. His method hinges on timing, simple video scripts, optimized thumbnails, and clear calls to action—no fancy site required.
