Speed Engineering relied on Adobe Commerce / Magento to manage a huge catalog of engine components and performance upgrades. As product lines expanded, page load times crawled, and the backend became impossible to navigate. Engineers wrestling with data feeds ran nightly IP blocking just to keep the storefront live. Customers experienced slow search results and abandoned carts during peak traffic.
The team selected Shopify Plus and engaged Guidance, a certified Shopify Plus Partner, to handle the migration. The goal was clear: simplify data architecture, boost site speed, and eliminate security overhead. Instead of patching Magento, Guidance rebuilt the catalog structure on Shopify’s platform, leveraging its global CDN and robust API to serve product data faster.
Guidance compressed and reindexed thousands of SKUs into streamlined JSON feeds. Custom scripts transformed legacy attributes into Shopify metafields, and Algolia search integration replaced slow database queries. This overhaul reduced product page render time by more than half, giving customers near-instant results when browsing or filtering performance parts.
To manage stock, Guidance integrated ShipStation directly with Shopify Plus. Warehouse staff now update quantities and ship orders without leaving the Shopify admin. Real-time updates keep the site in sync, preventing oversells on high-demand items like turbochargers and exhaust kits. Returns and order edits are also handled in one unified dashboard.
Migrating to Shopify Plus eliminated the need for complex Cloudflare rules and nightly IP blocks. Shopify’s built-in security stack handles DDoS protection, SSL certificates, and PCI compliance. The internal team can focus on product launches instead of firewall logs, and customers trust the site’s lock icon when entering payment details.
Since going live on Shopify Plus, Speed Engineering saw search response times drop by over 60%, checkout completion rates rise, and administrative tasks shrink. The simplified workflow gave the merchandising team back hours every week, and the improved store performance boosted conversions on both desktop and mobile. Speed Engineering now has a foundation for new market launches and global expansion.
