So Shape launched in Paris in 2014 to make healthy eating easy and enjoyable. Early on, the founders tested standard Shopify for online sales. By 2017, however, they faced growing pains: slow setup for new markets, fragmented storefronts, and manual work eating into their creative bandwidth. The team havent the technical firepower to maintain multiple sites, and growth stalled.
Expanding beyond France meant customizing pricing, currencies and languages for each region. Their existing setup required hours of manual adjustments and developer support for every change. Launching pop-up stores for limited-edition flavors was nearly impossible at scale, slowing product testing and market feedback.
In late 2017, So Shape upgraded to Shopify Plus for its multi-store network and built-in tools. They tapped Plus’s APIs, multi-currency engines, and language integrations to streamline processes. Within weeks, the team had set up a template, then cloned and tweaked it for each new country’s storefront.
Using a central theme, So Shape deployed stores in Germany, Spain, Italy and beyond—10 markets total—each with localized payment options in 3 currencies and content in 8 languages. They connected translation apps, activated automated currency conversion, and spun up pop-up product lines without a developer sprint. Marketing campaigns went live simultaneously across channels.
The impact was immediate. So Shape saw a 5X increase in sales, driven by localized experiences and faster market entry. Pop-up e-stores for new flavors launched in days, not weeks. Internal teams regained hours previously lost to manual tasks, letting them focus on product R&D and creative marketing.
By centralizing their tech stack on Shopify Plus, So Shape turned expansion from a bottleneck into a competitive edge. They continue iterating on new markets, confident they can support fresh launches without a heavy dev budget.
So Shape’s story shows that the right platform can unlock global growth and let teams focus on what counts: building great products and customer experiences. With Shopify Plus, the brand turned complexity into creativity and saw its healthy-meal mission reach new audiences worldwide.
