Snocks began in 2016 with a simple idea: craft high-quality, minimalist socks that pair perfectly with modern sneaker culture. Rather than follow the wholesale route, they decided to sell direct to consumer. Early growth on Amazon hinted at a bigger opportunity online. But by 2020 they realized they needed a platform built for scale, flexibility and stability. That’s when they moved to Shopify Plus.
Based in Berlin, a handful of designers and marketers launched Snocks after spotting a gap for well-made basics at fair prices. Their initial channel was Amazon, which drove traction quickly. Though margins were tight, they saw word-of-mouth and small influencers sending new customers. But they wanted more control over branding, checkout and customer data.
With increased influencer collaborations driving sudden surges, their hosted solution couldn’t guarantee uptime. Custom bundle offers were impossible without developer intervention. Payment fees were eating into profit. They needed a robust infrastructure able to handle high volume promotions, flexible pricing logic and integrated payments, all without constant code maintenance.
Shopify Plus provided a platform built to support large-scale D2C. They usedShopify Scriptsto create real-time bundle discounts, automatically adding free pairs when specific items were in cart. This boosted average order value. Migrating toShopify Paymentscut transaction costs by $9,000 per month and simplified reconciliation. The Plus plan’s guaranteed uptime freed them to run influencer campaigns confidently, sending unique discount links without fearing crashes or slowdowns.
Within 12 months of migrating, Snocks saw a 127% jump in total sales. The intelligent bundling increased average order value by 9%. They saved roughly $9,000 monthly in payment fees. Influencer partners with audiences over 1M could share a shop link and swipe-up deal, knowing the site and checkout would handle thousands of concurrent visitors effortlessly.
