PetCulture set out to build a digital pet supplies store that does more than list products. They wanted expert vet tips, insurance options, and a subscription model that kept pet owners coming back. With a tight deadline and a need for built-in integrations, they chose Shopify Plus and teamed up with the agency MindArc. In just four months they had a private beta up, and after another two months the public launch was live.
Launching a richly featured site on day one is hard. PetCulture needed CRM, personalization, recurring orders, an insurance calculator, and vet-approved content all in one place. They couldn’t wait around to build custom solutions from scratch because every week of delay cost potential subscriptions and revenue.
Shopify Plus offered a mature, stable platform that scaled automatically and had dozens of native integrations ready to go. MindArc handled setup, custom themes, and workflow automation while PetCulture’s team focused on product selection and content. The native subscription and membership apps on Plus cut weeks off development time.
Within two months of initial setup, PetCulture had user accounts, subscription plans for food and supplements, and a membership tier that unlocked free shipping and vet chat. They integrated customer profiles with Klaviyo for tailored email sequences and used a checkout upsell to promote insurance during checkout.
At the six-month mark they flipped the switch publicly. Social ads, email blasts, and partnerships drove steady traffic. In the first month they saw a 100% spike in sales compared to the previous private period, then maintained that growth rate month over month through subscription churn control and targeted promotions.
Because Shopify Plus scales seamlessly, PetCulture can keep adding features without worrying about infrastructure. They’ve trialed upsell bundles, loyalty rewards, and live chat support. Each pilot runs for 30 days, and actionable data is fed back into future releases.
Launching fast means owning the roadmap and using out-of-the-box tools where possible. Partnering with an experienced Plus agency allowed PetCulture to focus on customer experience instead of servers and scaling issues. Their approach shows that a strong platform plus a clear feature list equals fast, sustainable growth.
