Odaje began life in 2012 in Paris under the label M. Moustache. The founders set out to design eco-friendly sneakers using LWG-certified leather and recycled textiles. In a rare move they even collected old soles from customers to grind and remold them into new ones, creating a truly closed-loop process. For years their designs drew praise, but as the brand grew they started to hit limits in their tech stack.
During major sales events and the holiday rush the site would slow or crash entirely. That meant lost orders and frustrated buyers. On top of that, customer records were split between physical outlets and the ecommerce site. No single view of order history made personalized outreach nearly impossible. Their old platform struggled to juggle traffic peaks or integrate offline and online channels, and the team were eager for a single, scalable solution.
In September 2023 Odaje flipped the switch toShopify Plus. The migration plan covered four major pillars: the online store, point-of-sale systems in 16 shops, a new CRM flow, and streamlined logistics for returns and inventory. They brought in Matrixify to port data safely, and tapped Shopify Flow to automate order routing, stock updates, and promotional triggers.
Shopify Plus handled high traffic without hiccups, even when new product drops generated hundreds of hits per second. Once the POS systems were live, in-store inventory synced instantly with the web shop. That allowed customers to preview stock for any location, buy online and collect in person. The unified database gave marketing teams one source of truth for segmentation and email campaigns.
The impact was clear within weeks. Site outages vanished and page loads stayed fast during peak hours. Conversion rates climbed by 6%, as smoother checkout flows and dynamic upsells cut drop-offs. International customers saw local currencies and pricing, and that drove a 25% jump in overseas orders. The entire overhaul wrapped up in just seven months, letting Odaje keep pace with demand without surprise downtime.
