Jennifer Taylor Home has long been celebrated for crafting high-end designer furniture at prices that welcome a broad range of shoppers. Originally selling through Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot, and Overstock, the company decided in 2015 to build its own direct-to-consumer channel using an open-source platform. That initial site allowed a cart and checkout, but as orders climbed and the brand matured, the platform’s limitations began to hamper customer experience, payments flexibility, and operational efficiency.
With growing volume came complexity: managing new payment methods, syncing orders to NetSuite ERP, and marketing to an expanding audience across channels. The original NopCommerce setup provided the basics but lacked native features commonly expected by today’s shoppers. Limited scalability threatened to slow down the momentum that marketing and merchandising teams had worked hard to build. Leadership knew a turnkey solution wouldn’t cut it, and a fully custom build was cost-prohibitive—so the quest for a middle ground began.
Sales and Marketing Manager Vu Tong championed a move to BigCommerce, citing its enterprise-grade architecture, out-of-the-box commerce features, and open APIs as the perfect fit. The platform delivered:
Each feature slotting into place reduced manual work and payment friction, allowing the team to focus on design, marketing, and customer care rather than custom development sprints.
Between 2019 and 2021, Jennifer Taylor Home posted remarkable results:
BigCommerce’s built-in payments options and app ecosystem eliminated the need for multiple point solutions, and the robust API catalog enabled custom extensions when needed, such as ERP connectors and ad operations workflows. In recognition of that success, BigCommerce named Jennifer Taylor Home the 2021 Make It Big Emerging Brand winner.
With a solid ecommerce foundation in place, the brand now sets its sights on global expansion and made-to-order offerings. Plans include shipping direct to consumers in new markets and adding bespoke manufacturing options to delight interior designers and end-users alike.
