Since 1998, Katrina Markoff has built Vosges Haut-Chocolat into a brand known for exotic spice blends in handcrafted chocolates. But its custom e-commerce platform was a drag—maintenance costs soared and the shopping flow felt outdated. The team wanted a platform that could scale, reduce manual work, and reflect the brand’s artisanal story.
The legacy site faced slow load times, cumbersome order customization, and limited content flexibility. Every change required developer time, and some features like gift notes or corporate orders added to fulfillment headaches. Marketing tools were patched together, making it hard to launch new campaigns or reward loyal buyers.
Vosges teamed with Uncap, a Shopify Plus agency, to rebuild the storefront from scratch on Shopify Plus. The new site made heavy use of dynamic content blocks to tell the brand story, and offered a clean design that highlights product photography and origin notes. Every piece of text and image could be updated in minutes without touching code.
To drive repeat purchases and retention, Uncap connected Shopify Plus with Recharge Subscriptions, Klaviyo for email campaigns, and Smile for a loyalty program. Each service synced subscriber and customer data to keep offers and reminders in tune with shopping behaviors.
Within the first year after launch, transactions jumped 50% while online revenue climbed 40%. Developer hours dropped in half, freeing up budget for new marketing experiments. Customers responded well to subscription choices and personalized experiences, and email open rates improved by more than 20%.
A modern e-commerce platform matters, but so does the right mix of apps. When you combine design flexibility, automated marketing, and easy checkout, you can free your team to focus on growth rather than fixes. This move set up Vosges for new product launches and new markets ahead.
