Van Cafe, founded by brothers Mike and Greg Labate, needed a robust ecommerce backbone to match its rapid growth in manufacturing aftermarket van parts and accessories. Operating on aging legacy software, they struggled with manual workflows, disconnected inventory, and marketing limitations. In January 2022, the team chose BigCommerce paired with Acumatica ERP to centralize data, automate processes, and unlock modern marketing tools.
For years, Van Cafe relied on outdated solutions like QuickBooks and a legacy ecommerce platform that lacked the flexibility and integrations required to scale. Without a native ERP connection, inventory projections were inaccurate, fulfillment bottlenecks cropped up, and the marketing team struggled to segment customers effectively. They needed a unified digital ecosystem that would allow real-time inventory updates, seamless order processing, and targeted outreach—all without custom code or expensive development hurdles.
The decision came down to finding a platform flexible enough for custom promotions and advanced storefront theming, while offering a robust, out-of-the-box ERP connector. BigCommerce provided a headless-ready architecture, native ERP integration through Acumatica, and support for third-party apps like Klaviyo and ShipStation. Together, these systems would form a powerful commerce stack that delivered both agility and scale.
Partnering with PC Bennett Solutions, Van Cafe launched its new storefront in just weeks. The BigCommerce-Acumatica connector synced 2,500+ SKUs, purchase orders, and manufacturing schedules in real time. Klaviyo fueled personalized email flows, ShipStation automated shipping, and Advanced Shipping Manager delivered accurate rates. Kit Builder streamlined product bundles. And with Google Ads Performance Max integrated via BigCommerce, the marketing team quickly drove 1.7 million impressions and 10,000 additional clicks.
Van Cafe’s streamlined stack yielded immediate gains. Comparing April to February 2022, orders increased by 24%, average order value jumped 77%, and revenue spiked 119%. The team achieved faster fulfillment cycles, near-perfect inventory accuracy, and richer customer insights—fueling both operational efficiency and higher lifetime value.
With a stable, extensible commerce foundation, Van Cafe is gearing up to expand into the camper van market and broaden its omnichannel footprint. Custom promotional widgets, dynamic product bundles, and social commerce integrations are next on the roadmap. The scalable BigCommerce-Acumatica ecosystem will support these ambitions, ensuring the business remains agile on its growth journey.
