Sukhmani Designs started as a wholesale jewelry venture before expanding into a brick-and-mortar boutique blending jewelry, home furnishings, and interior design guided by Vastu Shastra. As founder Sat Gurumukh Khalsa took the reins from his retiring parents, he inherited a patchwork of disconnected tools: QuickBooks POS, separate accounting software, a third-party credit card processor, and WordPress for ecommerce. That fragmentation slowed staff, forced manual data transfers, and made inventory and customer history hard to track across Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
Manual processes dominated daily tasks. If a customer signed up for the email list in-store, an employee would type the address into QuickBooks and then copy those contacts into a separate email tool. Sales teams had to remote-access a headquarters computer just to view Santa Fe inventory or pull order history. Sales tax rules changed by location, and consulting clients at home meant manually keying card numbers at higher rates. These inefficiencies ate hours each week and made consistent decision-making impossible.
Sat moved all operations onto Shopify’s unified commerce platform. Real-time dashboards now display inventory, customer history, and orders from any store or device. Shopify Email captures email addresses at checkout automatically, feeding them into marketing funnels with open rates three to four times higher than before. Shopify’s built-in tax engine applies accurate, location-based tax rates without extra setup. And with Shopify POS and Tap to Pay, sales teams process secure, card-present transactions anywhere—eliminating extra fees on keyed entries during in-home design consultations.
Within a year of migration, Sukhmani Designs posted a 38% jump in year-over-year revenue. Staff no longer fight spreadsheets or toggle between systems, freeing more time to assist clients and refine product lines. Inventory counts ran smoother, and automated tax reports reduced end-of-year headaches. The brand now has a single source of truth for performance analytics, letting Sat focus on growth strategies rather than data wrangling.
With Shopify as a solid foundation, Sukhmani Designs plans to expand its ecommerce offering and launch branded product lines into wholesale channels. Real-time insights, automated marketing, and on-location sales tools will support faster rollout of new collections while preserving the personalized service that defines the brand.
