Spencer Haws began experimenting with the Amazon Influencer Program in January 2023. Within months, his short, focused product videos were bringing in $3,000 each month. He managed to build this stream without quitting his day job, following a clear sequence of actions and simple checks that anyone can try.
The first move was filling out Amazon’s application, linking social accounts, and crafting a basic storefront. Spencer says its vital to match the social profiles to the niche you plan to target.
Once approved, he grouped related products into clear collections—tech gadgets, fitness gear, home office supplies—making it simple for visitors to browse and click through.
He researched top-selling items in his niche and wrote tight scripts. Each video highlights one or two key features and ends with a clear prompt to visit his Amazon page.
Spencer invested in a good camera, mic, and basic lighting. He edited out pauses, added text callouts, and tested formats—unboxings, quick tips, side-by-side comparisons—to see which got the best responses.
By adding target keywords in titles, descriptions, and tags, his videos started ranking in both social and Amazon searches. He learned that small tweaks in wording can boost views by noticeable margins.
Spencer created bold thumbnails showing the product and a short title. Each video ends with a direct call-to-action button overlay that points viewers to click his storefront link.
Using Amazon’s analytics, he tracked clicks, conversions, and revenue per video. He then ditched low-performers and iterated on top formats, gradually improving his monthly totals.
The program rules can feel dense. Spencer spent extra hours reading Amazon’s guidelines to avoid common rejections. Early on, he had a handful of videos blocked for missing affiliate disclosures.
He noticed many generic review clips out there, so he added personal tips—like real-life usage scenarios—to give his work a small twist that caught attention.
By focusing on clear steps—applying, organizing a storefront, scripting videos, dialing in SEO, and tracking results—Spencer built a robust side income. It shows that with a simple plan, consistent effort, and basic gear, you can earn significant affiliate revenue without a big budget.
