In mid-March 2024, two developers rolled out Next Starter AI, a Next.js boilerplate aimed at indie hackers and small teams. The goal was simple: cut development setup from days to minutes by bundling authentication flows, API routing, and marketing hooks into a single starter kit. Within hours of finishing core features, they launched on their demo site and shared it with online communities.
Next Starter AI uses a one-time lifetime license model, priced between $169 and $199. This straightforward approach removed friction around recurring billing and appealed to developers who hate subscription management. In the first ten days they pulled in $2,000 in sales. By April, revenue climbed to $8,000, and total revenue reached $10,000 just 50 days after launch.
The team compiled a marketing guide listing over 150 high-DA directories, guest blogs, and startup sites—Product Hunt, TechCrunch, TrustPilot, and more. They submitted Next Starter AI to directories daily, landing their first customer just three days after launch. These links boosted domain authority, drove referral traffic, and accelerated Google ranking.
Alongside link building, they published clear, keyword-driven posts showing real use cases: building dashboards, deploying AI features, and customizing UI components. Each article included meta tags, headers, and internal links back to the product, helping pages rank for target search terms and guiding readers from tutorial to purchase.
The founders understood dev pain points because they live them daily. They shared quick tips, GIF demos, and code snippets on Twitter and LinkedIn, tagging popular developer communities. This authentic approach resonated with other side-project creators, turning followers into buyers and amplifying word-of-mouth reach.
Next Starter AI’s mix of **product quality**, **smart promotion**, and a one-time purchase model drove rapid results without venture funding. By saving developers hours of boilerplate setup, they created real value. Their success shows that a focused growth plan—backlinks, SEO blogs, social media—can deliver substantial revenue in a matter of weeks.
