Mustang Survival has been outfitting water rescue professionals and recreational enthusiasts for over 50 years. When direct-to-consumer sales began driving growth, the team realized its existing platform could not keep up with traffic spikes or international expansion. They needed a fast, stable solution that could handle complex product data, integrate with ERP systems, and deliver a seamless checkout experience.
The previous platform struggled under peak demand, leading to slow page loads and lost conversions. Data migration was a daunting task: thousands of SKUs, customer records, and historical orders had to move without downtime. The brand also needed bi-directional syncing between its U.S. and Canadian stores, plus a way to automate product launches and sales events.
Partnering with Shopify Plus Agency Partner iamota, Mustang Survival executed a phased rollout. First, they mapped out data structures and cleaned legacy records. Using Shopifyβs import tools alongside custom scripts, they transferred product, customer, and order data in under three months. For automation, they deployed Shopify Flow to trigger order routing and inventory updates, while Launchpad handled flash sales schedules.
Next, they integrated their ERP software to sync inventory and financials across borders. The new storefront was optimized with image compression, a content delivery network, and responsive design tweaks that cut average load times by half.
In just 90 days, Mustang Survival saw a 172% increase in conversion rate and a 50% reduction in average page load time. The migration laid the foundation for future initiatives: launching pop-up events, expanding into new markets, and integrating retail POS solutions.
