Designerie wasn’t just another Shopify store. Founded by Brendan McCarthy after his time studying in France, the company quickly became a go-to source for upscale European furniture in the US. Yet as B2B demand surged, McCarthy discovered Shopify’s out-of-the-box tools couldn’t keep pace. Pricing constraints, limited customer group controls, and the inability to quote large design firms meant hours wasted on manual workarounds—until BigCommerce entered the picture.
Designerie needed to satisfy two very different audiences: interior designers placing bulk orders and retail shoppers seeking individual statement pieces. The team wrestled with separate catalogs, duplicate inventory feeds, and inconsistent pricing. Manual quote emails and offline catalogs left gaps in data visibility, making it almost impossible to forecast demand accurately.
Working with agency partner Modelic, Designerie migrated all products, customer groups, and pricing rules into BigCommerce’s B2B Edition. Faceted search was configured to let trade customers drill into material, color, and finish. On the back end, a custom HubSpot integration tracks page interactions and triggers automated email sequences—empowering independent sales reps to generate custom quotes directly within the platform.
BigCommerce’s multi-storefront feature unified Designerie and Sika-Design under a single catalog and inventory pool. What once required two separate BigCommerce accounts now lives in one central dashboard, ensuring real-time consistency across both brands.
57%increase in online B2B orders as trade clients embraced the platform.36%uplift in overall revenue, thanks to improved pricing controls and self-service quoting. And a streamlined team workflow freed up hours previously spent reconciling spreadsheets. These gains cemented Designerie’s reputation as a modern trade partner, moving away from paper catalogs to a streamlined digital experience.
With foundational systems in place, Designerie is evaluating immersive 3D product models so designers can visualize pieces in their projects before ordering. Coupled with domain-specific blogs and enhanced content, the team expects conversion rates to climb even higher. And with BigCommerce’s extensible API, there’s no limit to the custom tools they’ll build next.
